- We adhere to the rules of the
SCA
when it comes to armor standards and those of the
Midrealm. This page
does not deviate from those standards but only adds ideas for
flourish and style to your over all kit.
Armor Code
1. Surcoats:
Black and Gold/mustard Yellow. Black on the left side (heart), Gold on
the Right (Sword arm). Red cross formee trimmed in zigzag stitch in
gold/yellow. This cross shall be 9" square. Place center chest AND
center back.
No trim other than a counter charged 1" tape at collar/sleeve or hem.
Re-dye the yellow if it becomes too pale.
2.
Shields:
Your choice of design for the war shield. Black over golden yellow
[King's Gold at Michael's Hobby is perfect].
Red cross, trim in gold, center if able. No wolf. No other design on the
front.
Personal tourney shields shall not bear the company arms but your own.
If the shield is a dual purpose dress kit/ fighting shield, then
consider simplifying the design to fit the early period device style.
3. Weapons:
Good working order prior ot events. Make back up weapons if affordable
or handy to ensure your readiness to fight.
4. Armor:
Preferred hidden, sport type or period crusader or dark age armor. But in
reality, whatever you can afford to buy, make or borrow. time period in
the end doesn't really matter as much as you getting in armor and
fighting out on the field.
Armor should be cleaned on a regular basis. Also make sure armor is
picked up at all events, put in bag or crate and use Fabreeze to get rid
of the odor if needed.
5. Colors:

Candidates shall
wear all black tunics or surcoats, red cross front and back, trimmed
gold/yellow. Non-fighters will wear all brown tunic or robe with red cross
over heart (small) or front and back standard.
Color: Black is typically the Bluish Black. The Gold or Mustard recipe
can be found at
Rit Dye
under the Gold Recipe:
- 2 Tbsp Golden Yellow
- 1-1/2 tsp Tan
Typically we just buy a nice gold from the
Fabric-Store.COM like their
Autumn Gold.
